I'm under the opinion it should stay volunteer & have as many willing patriots carrying the flag vs those willing to burn it & being forced to serve...it's just not the same anymore & would likely be a huge distraction to the purpose of our military.
not all mos in the military watches our 6, someone still has to do the s#!t jobs.
and there are plenty of them. who knows, might just change a few of their minds by being around greatness.

Hell, I don't even think many of our schools are even teaching the greatness of our country like they used to...so to impose mandatory service vs. volunteer with so many thinking what I can only call deviant impressions of what our military's job is?? Just leaves me scratching me head on the whole deal. No matter, it's a non-issue anyway.

It HAS changed for the worse and lack of education is the reason. School districts no longer teach civics, World History, current events and "Texas History" in most schools is watered down compared to what it was just 20 years ago.

If students have no bearing on true history, true greatness and true evil, they can fall for the easiest way of thinking which is liberalism. With liberalism, no thought is necessary. It is all emotional. If students have no basis in fact, emotion is all they are left with and patriotism is a foreign concept to them.

I have had numerous and futile arguments with my older girls' schools due their curriculum and lack of teaching these subjects. I got shrugs and "...we're doing our best" nonsensical answers which I told them was worth less than sh*t to me. It is very difficult to teach your kids every little thing about history but it is now left up to us as parents.

Uneducated people are easier to control and the Marxists and Communists know it and are utilizing it.

I have no dog in the fight...One of my biggest regrets was not serving & was certainly on the table & talked to recruiters. Life is funny sometimes.

Again, I almost wished it had been mandatory back in the late 80's as I wouldn't be dealing with the what if's...now, from what I see happening?? I'm not so certain our forces need the distractions of mandatory snowflakes pretending to be soldiers in today's climate.

          jmho...
