That looks like it will work just fine. Never thought of welding it to a receiver hitch like that. Good idea. Just watch out for your tailgate.

Nice game hoist. My son built one we've used for years out of 2" tubing that slides and pins in the receiver hitch. It's long enough to clear the tail gate. Also cut in half with 1 1/2" tubing inside so it collapses down for carrying in the bed.
