I'm next. My Doc mentioned it my last visit but I opted out. My wife takes it and loves it.

          I am on:

          tamsulosin
          once a day
          0.4 mg

          simvastatin
          once a day (at bedtime)
          20 mg

          valsartan
          once a day
          320 mg

Been on these for the last 3+ months with no ill side effects and it has lowered everything those meds have intended to lower.

I think these are for lower cholesterol, blood pressure and enlarged prostate.

Do what your doctor says - pretty simple

I used flow max once and when I had cataract surgery it caused some problem with my eyes but I can't remember exactly what it was. Anyways it was a problem. Take Cialas instead it works like flow max but it's good for something else too.

Be sure to monitor your Blood Pressure. Made mine take wide swings.

I have a good internist as well as a good urologist looking after my enlarged prostate gland. I've been taking tamsulosin for years without any side effects. A couple of years ago, I was having problems peeing, and the urologist said that despite having the good laser ("cool" laser), he recommended putting off surgery as long as possible. The internist put me on Avodart to augment the tamsulosin, and I've been doing fine since. I still have urinary frequency and incomplete emptying of my bladder, but it's not painful to pee. Whoever said viagra is a miracle drug didn't have prostate gland problems.

                  Good luck,

                  Dave

PS - I should add that I'll be 62 in less than 2 weeks.

I was prescribed Flowmax for a kidney stone. It didn't work. It was to big. I had no problems taking it.

Get familiar with the possible (key word) side effects and watch for them but don't over think it.
Most people don't get them. If you do tell your doc and get on something else.
I'm not an old guy yet but getting there slowly. I do talk to folks every day about meds and if you read the papers that come with your scripts they'll scare the crap out of youn, it doesn't mean it will happen to you. Risk vs benefit. If it was high risk your doc wouldn't give it to you for that

I’ve been on it for at 15 years. Never felt a side effect. I guess it works. Kind like putting out weed prevention fertilizer. Put it out every year and still get weeds. But, did I get less weeds?

I have been using flomax without success. The side effects are not worth it at all.

Used flomax for kidney stones also. It did help.

The VA put me on one of those for about six months then found out I had prostate cancer and removed the whole thing. They forgot to tell me to stop so that was fun while having a cath for two weeks.
