So, are there any other spots that are good for camping on the beach, and fishing the surf between Padre and say, Port O'Connor?

I think your best bet to avoid crowds on that weekend is to just roll south on PINS, till you find a good spot.

I'm even starting to think about trying it out that weekend.

It’s set, we’re going June 1st weekend. DirtyMike, Canoe1, any other tips or suggestions for me as I really don’t know what all I’ll need out there. Is it worth driving all the way down to the jetties? I’m guess you get on the beach there by the PINS office building? I guess that’s what that is

I personally don't care for the long drive down to the Jetties, but fishing can be good.

Ya the drive might suck, but I feel the jetties give us more options and with the canoes we can paddle across to the other side and fish calmer water.

That is true. Sometimes the channel could be a little rough for comfort, but if you go back into bay a little, should be good

on google earth you can measure distances... I have only been down twice I think. I wanns say around 100-150 yards wide...
