    why I don't kill snakes

In my neck of the woods copperheads are our only venomous snake. I have plenty of them and for the most part, I leave them alone. Copperheads eat mice and rats and I have too many of those.

Who kills the copperheads? Kingsnakes of course.

I was riding my bike this morning and almost ran over these two.

    That's a kingsnake eating a kingsnake.

    Prairie Kingsnake and Speckled.

same here; out in the woods I let 'em make it.
around the house; they gotta go.

venomous that is, I never kill the good ones.

I finally got my wife not to shoot the king snake's. Some times it gets loose in the bed.[emoji16]

I'm sure you have more venomous snakes than a copperhead. Just bc you don't see them doesn't mean they are not there. Rattle snakes coral snakes etc. roam the same places as copperheads not as many perhaps, but they are there. I will kill them without hesitation.

i didn't think it was a copperhead (didn't look quite right) but didn't know there was another that looked like it. I'm lucky to come across 3 or 4 snakes a year and i spend a vast amount of my time outside.

like the rain, this years been different...

Good news is that the kings have put such a dent in the venomous species that they are eating their own. Kind of a shame.

I'd rather me or any kids be scared by a rat than be bitten by a copperhead or rattlesnake......it's science..

All venomous ones I see where I, or my friends and family frequent die... real quick like.

We are 7 dead rattlers at our lease so far this year. Most killed is 14 in a year. Most killed in feedpens looking for...you guessed it...mice..

I don't kill them. I either relocate them or make sure they find their way through the yard (typically a pair at a time).

As long as I can spot them before they tap me on the shoulder and ask me to move.

Indigos eat rattlesnakes but everyone I know still kills them on sight (Rattlers not indigos). Used to kill any venomous on sight but lately have been letting even water moccasins go if I don't plan on going back there often
