Where did the word TAXIDERMY come from??

Any ideas the root of the word TAXIDERMY?? I have had a few folks ask and just wonder if any of y'all know just how this word was born, or the meaning of the word?

I just figured a taxi hit a deer and ripped the skin right off'n it. The triver stuffed it full of leaves so's the warden wouldn't cite him for taking the meat home....

my guestimate based on latin verbage

taxonomy = classifiying living organisms

dermy = skin

hence the name "taxidermy" for preserving animal skins

Taxi is a Greek word meaning arrangement.
Derma is also of Greek origin meaning skin.

Good, ol' Linnæus. I remember him from college biology class.

He also devised the binomial nomenclature for classify plants and animals, like humans being called Homo sapiens.

Kinda 'neat' that the combined letters a&e print out.

Another fine example of the TBH brain trust at work!!
My version is TAXI is to pull into position, as to taxi an airplane. DERMI is as stated from dermis or skin.
Hence pull the skin into position.
And here I thought it meant SPEND MONEY??
