I met with my orthopedic today for a follow up. The nurse removed the bandage and I have one heckuva scar in my arse. Iíve been off the hydrocodone for several days so he did some functional testing and cut me loose. No more walker, I have a cane now. I can drive and I can go back to work on the 16th.

I need to hit the gym. Bad! Iíll wait until Monday and start with just upper body stuff and work in some very light lower body later.

Lowering my rep count and increasing my overall weight through lifts by going to a semi pyramid set 10-8-6-6-8-10
Also slowing my pace down on reps and really focusing on a correct and smooth form

Aiming for:
BB bench
Smith incline
Dumbell bench
DB flys
Smith incline (again)
Cable flys

Final exam was supposed to be Friday. Got home late and had things to do. Wasn't feeling it over the weekend, and I'm feeling the effects of my actions over the weekend. Got it done today though.
Burpee push-ups.
DB swings.
Inverted rows.
V-up Russian twist.
12 sets of 10 in 27:44.
Burpees still suck!
End of this program, so I'll take the rest of this week off and try to decide what's next.

Iím gonna train the crap out of it! Just as soon as I get the ok from the ortho. I made the gym this morning and another guy was doing nothing but legs. Squats, deadlifts .... I was jealous.

I knocked out chest and biceps. Kept the weight on the light side and high reps.

Officially moved to Houston now and signed up yesterday for 24hour fitness since there are 3 gyms within 20 mins when there’s no traffic.
Closest one is pretty outdated and some sketchy looking folks but the further two are nice.

Haven’t missed a day since my last post and still doing lower rep/heavier weight pyramid sets

Yesterday was chest and cardio, today was back and cardio, tomorrow is arms and abs

I usually deal with four or five people at that time of morning at my little Anytime Fitness. And usually three of those are women on the treadmill. It was a lot busier in the evenings.

Second day back in the gym and it feels good to be back. No lower body stuff yet until I can meet with the ortho again in August.

Back and triceps today. Keeping it relatively light with high reps to keep from getting too sore.

Lat pulldowns
Low rows
Overhead rope extensions
Skull crushers

I spent more time talking to the morning gym rats about my surgery than I planned. Back at it again tomorrow.

Glad you are back at it Sabre, at least to some extent.

Well I just suck. I have been traveling and doing out of town fun stuff for the better part of 2.5 months which means not as much gym time and eating poorly. Prior to that, I had intentionally bulked up by about 5 lbs to increase my strength. Today I stepped on the scale for the first time in a long time(I normally step on a scale everyday) and see another 5 lbs has magically added itself to my body. I havent weighed this much in 6-7 years maybe longer. I saw a picture of myself last week from my swordfishing trip and thought I looked a little heavier but discounted it, lol. So easy to lie to myself. It is amazing how hard it is to get fat off and how easy it piles on, smdh.

Oh well, back at it today with some fat burning cardio....2000m row, 2 miles of intervals on the treadmill and 2000m row. Finished with some leg and upper body stretches. Next week is my knee surgery so hopefully I can get 1-2 lbs off before then. Diet will have to be king after that until I can get back after it full bore. Going to mow the yard now....that should count for something!

Glad to be back at it, but couldn't do it today. Dadgum leg cramps hit me at about 2 AM. The kind that make you jump out of bed to ease them. But its kinda hard to jump outta bed with this hip! I couldn't hardly even stand straight up to work them out. The pain was horrible.

I'm chugging a couple electrolyte drinks today and getting back on the bananas.

Getting old really sucks.

Chest and biceps today. 5 minutes on the treadmill without my cane felt pretty good.

3 sets of light to moderate weight and 12-15 reps each set. Supersets

Flat bench/drag curls
Seated wide grip chest press (bilateral movement)/preacher curl
Incline chest press (bilateral movement)/hammer curl

Getting my energy level back is going slower than I thought.

I'll miss tomorrow, but hit it again Saturday.

Made it in and tore it up today. Chest and back then bi’s and tri’s. Three worm up sets then three working sets. Supersets 3x10

Flat bench/lat pulldown
Seated wide grip press/bodyweight ring pull-ups
Inverted grip bench press/low row
V-bar pull-ups

Barbell curl/body weight dips
Hammer curl/overhead cable extension
Incline dumbbell curl/tricep extension pronated and supinated

Made every day since my last post except for Friday.

This week will be interesting as I’m covering for work up in college station so I’m adding 3hrs of driving to each day and have to hit the gym after work rather than before which I prefer.

Took 3 of those 5lbs gained back off this past week. Surgery Wednesday so probably just going to get skinny over the next couple of months and be back to square one with regard to putting muscle on. I know Ive said it a bunch but getting old sucks!
