I meet my dad Saturday morning and we headed for our small game lease an hour away from home. We were in search of a big javelina sow that we have been seeing by herself the past few months. I was hoping to take her with my bow and my dad had his bow but also had my 30-06 next to him hoping a yote would present itself as well. Usually we'll do a spot and stalk hunt for javelina but this day we decided to sit and wait in some trees by some water. She showed up but never got into my shooting lane.
As my dad was changing spots to stay down wind he spooked her and as she was about to make a mad dash he put a round in her from my 30-06. It was a 70 yard shot and she dropped on the spot. Wish it would have been a bow kill and my dad probably would have put the stalk on her had he not startled her. We had a great time and were happy to bring some meat home!
This weekend and next weekend we are going mule deer hunting so hopefully I can connect, wish me luck!
