    how long do acorns drop

I noticed on october 3rd that a red oak was starting to drop acorns. I went back yesterday and the same tree is still dropping acorns. How long do they drop for. This in kerr county and there are acorns every.

They drop about the same distance from the branch to the ground...

Depends on how tall the tree is, I guess.

      Sorry! Couldn't resist.

The trees around here dropped them all pretty quick.I picked up some last week and they were all bad.The deer are not eating them here.

Me too, we got so many a-kerns the deer won't touch our corn...that was 2 weeks ago, I sure hope they go for the gold on saturday, I need to end my kill-less fall season asap.

Same at my place. I turned off the feeders but will turn them back on Saturday morning. There was a lot of soured corn on the ground when I turned them off.

BTW - last time it froze in Austin in Jan, I took a pic and posted on here of some acorns on my oak tree in my front yard. I don't know how long they usually take to drop but have seen them on the trees that late. Hopefully all the rain helped shake them out of the tree and the water soured them on the ground.

I know at our place we still have had them around in late Jan/Feb. We try just about every trick in the book to get deer to our corn and whatever else we put out. I even threw out some apples and oranges last yr. and it seemed to work, so did peanut butter.
We need a really good Hard freeze.

How about quit hunting the corn and start hunting the acorns?
