Not sure what else but the 100 Mile Wilderness is in Maine.
Is that 100 miles of nothing but wilderness? Meaning you would need to carry enough food and water to make it 100 miles. If so that would be a haul for sure.
I've learned more about the AT on this thread and reading his blog than I knew about it before so I know very little about the trail.
I believe that is correct. 100 miles with no re-supply.
I read a book about it in college and my mom attempted it when she retired (at 63 years old). She fell and broke her hip at a hostel just a couple of months into it. Luckily she was not on trail in the middle of nowhere.
She was also airlifted out for suspicion of a stroke after the side of her face went numb. Turned out it was a spider bite.
She's been back a few times to hike small sections and is planning to go out with a work crew.
I am at Hiker Welcome Hostel at the base of Moosilauke Mountain. Reception Ghana been pour last few days! Blake thank you for sending text, I did get it. The last few days have been amazing and the start of the BIG climbs is in the morning!!!i will post some pics now from last few days.
As always, I look up the places you are currently on Google Earth and the interwebs. Looks like a cozy little place. I'm assuming you are staying in the new bunkhouse there at Hiker Welcome? I'm looking forward to some pics!
