          Awesome! When I was a kid those things were everywhere - we used to catch them and keep them as pets (until Mom would lay the law down and make us let'em go) I think I've seen two in the wild in the last ten years. Apparently they are very sensitive to insecticides and such and we've almost wiped them out. Glad you saw one.

                Grew up in west Texas...we used to find these all the time. On a good day you might see 5 or 6 as a kid. Not anymore though. Thanks for sharing!

                      Glad to see there are still some around. I wish they would make a comeback. I have fond memories of chasing them around as a kid when visiting my grandparents.

                        we had a lease in Childress a few years back and they were every where but i have only seen one at the lease in Eden.

                          Here's a couple picks I took off our lease in the Truscott area. We don't have horned lizards back 7 miles at our other lease outside Crowell. The landlord says the fire ants have overtaken the red ants at Crowell but we don't have a fire ant problem at Truscott. He says the Horned Toads feed heavily on the red ants.
