So AG Insurance subsidies equate to 1/6 of the US economy?

President Obama has touted Affordable Care Act as a way to save money on health care costs. New projections from the Congressional Budget Office, however, anticipate that the federal government will need to spend more on Obamacare than previously thought.

The non-partisan office estimates that the program will cost the federal government $1.34 trillion over the next decade, an increase of $136 billion from the CBO’s predictions in 2015. In 2016 alone, Obamacare will cost a total of $110 billion.

    While on the other hand

American farm subsidies are egregiously expensive, harvesting $20 billion a year from taxpayers’ pockets. Most of the money goes to big, rich farmers producing staple commodities such as corn and soyabeans in states such as Iowa.

I meant how it is administered, not in its volume. AG insurance is 100% Socialist in that regard. Its coverage and rates are set by the gov’t and no matter what product you get it’s provided by the same 6 or so companies.

At the same time, we were/are benefitting from them selling us their stuff cheap. Another 2-edged sword. It's great to have cheap goods to buy, and if some other government is willing to make sure their people are cheap labor for the rest of the world, let 'em. We can buy more stuff or buy the same and save more $. It's also good to have more stuff made in America and have more jobs. But then stuff costs more....

If governments would stay out of it and let the free markets take care of allocating resources and picking winners and losers, it would be better all the way around. Never gonna happen though. They can't not meddle.

First of all the government got into the farmers business a long time ago.
The inheritance tax destroys more farms and ranches than anything else. I believe
Trump is doing the right thing for our country in the long run.
Its easy to do the easy thing and accept the status quo and kick the can down the road but it is much harder to do the right thing. Usually there is going to be some pain when you do the right thing.
The longer the can has been kicked down the road the more pain there is.

The EU agreed yesterday to purchase more soybeans and liquefied natural gas from America after meeting with Trump. In turn Trump said he would renegotiate retaliatory tariffs on aluminium and steel with regards to the EU. Big Win!

This is the truth and the facts.
Little pain in the short term but way better off in the long run

I reckon the planting of soy beans is setting a record this weekend.

It’s really just not even worth it to plant $8 beans. I’m no leading expert, but I’d bet if you booked a crop at $8, you’re just guaranteeing a loss.

Not many business could survive losing 35% of their market due to policy decisions while facing ever rising input costs (and in the last couple of years, horrible conditions).

If the deal goes through you sell soy beans to china...if it craps out, the US buys your soy beans.

                            Let the planting begin.

Let's see, the tariffs have already pulled in 100 billion and Trump has already given 18 billion back to the farmers. Sounds like a decent return to me and they haven't even harvested yet.
AND there's still money left in the kitty.
