I did a hike up the steepest hill in the county park Sat, and then 4x up/down a stair in a condo complex with 233 steps. Both with 30# in my Kuiu pack. No pain today. Yet.

If you go buy a bear tag also. Predation has been hell on elk herd. Seeing a blk bear is high probability

Yeah I seen a bear last year. The general area I’ve been hunting in there I haven’t seen anyone in 3 years. Got 2 killed in three years. Looking to meet some good friends. Maybe camp together and take off different hunting directions find em and pack a few out

Yelp, Itís not as hard as some make it out to be to get away from people. San Juan and rio grande are as big of country as one wants to make it.

Kuiu makes great gear. Everything they make (except for their merino) is top of the line kit.

Firstlite boxers and shocks, those truly su***.

Iíve been pleased with kuiu and highly disappointed in Firstlite, with that said firstlite switched to product similar to kuiu nuyan so durability should be better

Donít get me wrong, Iíve got several quarter zip shirts. They are ok. But they are itchier than most merino to me (not that soft). They also have a tendency to start smelling like......sheep....after a few days.

I like the First Lite Aerowool better than anything else Iíve tried. It is the schiznit.

Never tried the FL socks but the Benmore boxers are killer. They are Aerowool and arenít crazy long like the Red Desert boxers.

Had 4 pairs of red deserts crouch blow out and 6 pairs of socks rip about two inches above the heel.

Kuiu socks are the bomb, but you have to follow washing instructions, not as forgiving as darn tough or smartwool.

I may try the heavier weight merino x boxers this year. I pretty much only wear merino socks and boxers all year now

That terrible feeling when you have play money to burn, but you don’t need any new gear. Could I upgrade some things??? Sure! But with really only one big elk hunt this year...kind of a weird feeling.

Anyone use sat phones lately??? I used to have two of them when I did a lot of calls into and out of Afghanistan...but no idea what happened to them.

No joke, where the last one was killed....just south east of pagosa.

Probably best to go further north.

X2. Mine came yesterday. Is that yellow card the whole license? I still need to buy my archery tag, trying to track down a duplicate NBEF bowhunter ed course card. I could bring my 2017 CA deer tag- which says Zone A, archery and general season. Iím afraid there will be a line at Shedhorn in Ennis and the person behind the counter says ďIím sorry- thatís not an archery tagĒ. And the hunter behind me says ďNext in line!Ē

The NBEF card would be the cleanest. So far Iíve contacted the fellow who gave the class, NBEF headquarters who sent me to a phone number at CA DFW with no reply and now the head of the NBEF state program- who did not find a record of my taking it in 2006. Glad I have time to work on it.

Another option is to go to a Fish and Wildlife office and fill out an affidavit stating you have bow hunted in a different state.

I think I'm going to head up to Utah solo during rifle (still think I'm going to hunt with a bow) seaso in october. No clue where I'm going but doing research.
I'm hunting archery season in Colorado or I'd go earlier.
