Which brings up a question on bag limit.
If I am reading it right, you can only have 2 days limit.

I normally fish my local lake and go home every night so I have never gave it much thought.
What is a fellow to do if he goes fishing for a week or in my case on this trip and plans to fish 3 days?
We are having a fish fry Saturday

You can only have twice the daily bag limit in possession. Never really understood that law. Really screws up my dove hunting.

I've never had to worry about that dove hunting but the fishing you can have 2 limits in possession for each of you on the boat. So if there's 4 of you on the boat and you have 200 keepers on ice by Sat evening throw some in the fryer at the fish fry that evening. I'm not bringing any fish down there. Plan on catching em or drinking alot of beer and I'm good with either really.

So do you suppose a game warden has ever stopped a camper and went into his ice chest and counted fillets?

I have heard of them counting dove breasts

I know the GW will look in your cooler on the boat, to see if they is fillets in there. That happened to me on Calaveras Lake.

They counted dove breasts on us, out by Liberty Hill one time.

That has actually changed since last fall. Dove, duck, goose, crane is now 3x the daily bag limit in possession. Definitely helps on a long weekend

So i know there is alot more people who fry fish on here besides me and been doing it alot longer. But has anyone else tried soaking their fish fillets in Frank's Red hot sauce and eggs before battering them? I learned it a few years ago and it is AWESOME! normally just do it with bass and catfish but its great with crappie also.

We soak ours in Louisiana hot sauce or mustard. I like it either way. Some people mix the two together but I havent tried it that way yet.

I slice my fillets lengthwise into strips, coat with hot sauce and yellow mustard and shake in fish fry and drown in peanut oil after that! Done it that way for as long as I can remember.

I've always used eggs since I was a kid. It makes the batter stick better and keep your chicken and fish more moist inside IMO.

Thereís stumps everywhere over there, look at a map and find a drop off going to 30í of water should be brush piles there. Especially on main lake points.

Man, I'd love to be there with y'all... I'll be coming back from my Chandeleur Island trip or I'd be there! I grew up there... hunted the woods on the north end before the lake was there. Used to know that lake like the back of my hand. Haven't been on it since probably 1980 or so...

I've looked at heading there since I read about your trip!! That would be fun also!! Haven't been on Rayburn in a year but I would be surprised if it was any different that when I was there last time!

Only splaining I'm gonna do is Friday evening for how I catch crappie. What folks do with that info is their business! Little man will probably give away more secrets than I do! You better bring a pencil and note pad and sit in the front row!
