    Custom made tree shear.

This has been about a six month process and by far my biggest fabrication challenge. I will let the pictures do most of the talking.

This is the quick attach frame I made for dads 70hp Kubota. It is made of 3”x 4” x 3/8” boxed angle iron with 3” tubing on each end for a future guard installation.

The two angles on the front are 4” x 5” x 3/8” and will support the shear frame.

The shear frame and blades are made out of 1” x 8” flat iron.
The blades are 26” long and have been heat treated.

Great idea, these things are handy as all get out... My lease boss builds a similar shear, he's made them for the bobcat UTV, tractors and skid steers.... Needless to say we always have access to a shear at our lease and we have a ton of cedar that still needs cutting...

They are actually are, throughout, a good friend and fellow TBH'er supplied me the bolts. They are grade 8 bolts that have been zinc coated.

I did most of the fab, I had the holes cut by a water jet company here in Manor, the edges on the blades by a machine shop in Columbus, and the heat treating was done in Houston.

Otherwise all the blueprints, engineering, welding cutting and oh crap moments was all me.
