    3D Range guidelines

We have formed a new Archery Club here in Snyder. We have land to shoot on and make a 3D Range and I would like to find some guidelines on setting up the targets. Can any of you recommend a good website to visit?

Send Tallcat (Mike Smith) a PM and he will send you ASA's guidelines for setting up a range.

Personally, I like to see a clear, clean shot to the target and water every 5-7 targets. Never set up shots where you shoot across a walking lane, unless the lane is taped off. Never set a quartering to shot because the risk of glancing off the target is too great, plus quartering shots tend to wear out your targets faster.

One factor to bear in mind regarding shooting lanes is that trad shooters do not have as flat a trajectory as compounds, so overhanging branches can become an issue. In other words, allow for the arch in archery.

when Dusty Britches says water every 5-7 targets, she means drinking water, not water to shoot across/ over! LOL
