    New lease search question

I am searching for a new lease for myself and a old friend. I've never been on a lease with him. He wants to take some customers and I'm cool with that since he'll be paying the majority of the lease and I have another lease in Kansas and don't really care if I kill a deer under 150.

    Here's the question.

In what area would you look, for "good" horns and decent numbers within 5 hours of DFW?

What’s your budget? Are intentions to manage, or just looking for a place to go?

Well I'm management minded. We don't kill under 160 in KS but I don't think I can expect the same here. Budget is $25,000 for 5 to 10 hunters.

                  There's a lot of pressure nowadays between DFW,and 5hrs.10 years ago I would have said Concho/Tom Greene Co's..Nowaday's I'd say Coryell,and Meridian..Not necessarily the huge number's,but definitley the horns..Imo

Coleman, Tom Green will have higher deer numbers.
Shackelford & Throckmorton can both great counties (in most areas)
Sterling co can also be a good bang for your buck county.

Before feed expenses, expect to pay between $8-15/acre for a quality LF place of size w/ basic lodging.

Try and find a big place among other big ranches. OnX and the county CAD websites are your friend.

I would start now, and put a ton of lines in the water.
