Texan hunting New Mexico for big muledeer - HELP!

I turn 40 in December 2019 and my wife wants to get me a New Mexico Muley hunt for my birthday.
Never hunted muledeer there and need some info so we can get the ball rolling. Any help, advise, tips, or otherwise to help point me in the right direction. Will be using firearms. Approx price as well......
    Thanks!

I haven’t hunted it but have been researching over the last year. Gohunt.com is a great resource and well worth the membership fee

Big mule deer and New Mexico dont really go together in my opinion. I would pic colorado, Utah or Wyoming over NM.. There are big ones there but you pay big money for them.

my definition of Big mule deer is 200+

Your paying 30K+ in New Mexico for that.

You can go shoot 180" Deer pretty cheap in Colorado and Utah.. Your looking at 5000+ for a 160" deer in NM

$5000 would be the absolute minimum starting cost. Big mule deer aren't cheap.

Ok.... 5K is a lot closer than 30k.... if NF ain’t the answer, then point me in the right direction.

Colorado and Utah would be where I would look. Lots of good options in Colorado for second, third or fourth rifle on private land for 5K-7K all with the chance of a 180-200 inch deer.

I second what everyone else is telling you. My recommendation is to focus on private ranches in Colorado and Utah. Don’t sleep on Nevada, it can be great too. Just be realistic with your budget. It can get expensive quick, but there’s no reason to go over $10k. I know of a handful of places that offer 200” deer for that.
