Fan Beard plaque I made from a Osage Orange

Got this piece of Osage orange from friend who cut some to make a bed. This was and outside piece that was covered in bark that I took off, sanded and then stained.

what is the black stuff at the base of the beards? looking for ideas to hold the individual bristles together like that.

It is taxidermy epoxy. I put it around the base and then roll it on a wash cloth to give it a little texture.

Looks nice. That’s a lot of spurs and beards.

Wish I had all of them over the years. Dog got hold of about 20 years worth of beards one day when I took them down when moving. Ended up with a gallon zip lock bag of turkrey beard hair.

One heck of a spur on the lower right string--
