SANTA FE, Texas (KTRK) --
Santa Fe High School is on lockdown after a situation with an active shooter on campus.

Police were called to the school on 16000 Highway 6 shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.

Santa Fe Police, the Galveston County Sheriff's Office and other agencies are responding to the scene.

There are no official confirmations of any injuries at this time.

A student tells ABC13 she saw a gunman shoot a girl in an art class. This is an unconfirmed report.

Got this e-mail from our school...

A message from DANBURY ISD

District Information…

Message from the Superintendent

DISD Parents and Community Members:

Danbury ISD has been informed that a campus shooting occurred this morning at the Santa Fe ISD. According to law enforcement, the shooter has been apprehended. Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, staff, parents, and community members of Santa Fe ISD in the wake of this horrible incident.

Federal agents saying multiple students died.

A federal official and a county official close to the situation confirm to KHOU 11 News there are multiple student fatalities at the scene and an officer was also wounded.

Very sad, I know several faculty and students there through my animal chiropractic business, prayers for families of Santa Fe. These tragedies usually make me angry but when you know people involved it provokes many more emotions. I know we have TBH family there, hoping and praying for the best.

It typically does take several hours or days to get the real picture of what happened in these cases. Looking forward to an account of actual events. Lord knows there is always 10 -20 different narratives before the facts actually come out.
