    1976 Mon Ark 15' project

    Friends,

This is my new project. It is a 1976 Mon Ark 15' Jon boat.
25HP Johnson motor that still runs great.
Bass tracker trolling motor that is still strong.
I have a Garmin fish finder 160 as well as Hummingbird 200dx fish finder.

No clue if those are any good, but hey they were part of the boat.

The seats are brand new along with the fuel line and bulb.
It will get a new battery and lights as well.
I am going to power wash out the boat to get a fresh look on what I want to do with it.

I am considering using this on the inside of the boat. The two wood surfaces will get new wood and the good coating of this stuff as well.

I've fixed a couple of Monarks before good boats. Have fun!

I've caught a lot of fish out of this boat. It is going to be fun to restore and use with my kids and my friends.

Hows the transom wood? I've got a rivet setter if ya got any leaky ones anywhere, or need any replaced. Just let me know.

Can anybody recommend a paint that I could use on this boat?

I'll be keeping an eye on this. I just picked up its big brother, a '76 16' simi-v that I'm going to strip and repaint...

Parker paints. Get a stencil kit or make some from mylar. I scuffed mine with some scratch pads and bought some etcher from lowes and painted it. No adhesion problems or peeling. My old paint was worn off in a bunch of spots.

On any bare spots you need to use the "self etching" primer from auto part store, otherwise the top coat wont stick. I give a thumbs up on the Parker's duck boat paint from Cabela's. MUCH cheaper than car paint supply. I did my 12' jon before I sold it, looked real good, and stuck well also. Several colors available.

You think two gallons of paint and primer will do the trick?

I'm cheep, I was hoping to get by with a gallon sprayed on. I first need to strip the 4 layers of paint that are on it and chipping... UGH!!!

This is what BoatRight Marine uses on all their aluminum boats

2X on the self etching primer on the bare spots. Bare aluminum of any kind needs self etching primer for paint to stick.
