Thatís for sure. Garret seams to be a play not to lose kind of coach. Once ahead they seem to have no desire to keep the throttle down. Iím surprised with a 3 point lead they donít start taking a knee in the second quarter.

The dysfunction of the Cowboys just gets so old!! As a fan I hate to see him go. He did not play well last year I thought he was hurt, but what do they have that is better at receiver? What have they done to make the team better this offseason? Nothing!!

It just gets old, Jones raking in the money, saying he wants to win a superbowl as bad as ever and then crap like this!! Nothing changes just more dysfunction!!!

While I agree that Jerry is only serious about making money, the team still got better today. Daz was a cancer in my opinion, plus they freed up $8 million. Hurns #s last year were better than Dez, and he's much younger.

This is a year or two late IMHO. It's also addition by subtraction, team got better by getting ride of a dysfunctional wide receiver that was no longer performing at any where near his salary. As Dale mentioned, he will probably play better elsewhere.

Yep. But still close enough for some of the hometown leaches to still get to him. I wish him well, but I think it was a good move for the Cowboys. But I hate to see him go. Even without production, he still required double coverage, which opens up other receivers

Jeepers, all the hate. Dez was a beast for the Cowboys, all time leader in receiving TD's in just 7 years. And by most player and coach accounts, he was the hardest working player on the team - in the gym, at practice and on the field. I loved watching him play.

He just isn't a good fit for the type of offense they have to put around Dak. But no one with that much talent can't run any route that he is coached to run. All Cowboys WR production was way down last season, far more than Dez'. Beasley's was less than 50% of what it was in 2016.

Cowboys have a predictable offense, mediocre coaching, and an amateur GM who has them in salary cap jail. That's what is wrong with the Cowboys. Not Dez, even if he is a little past his prime he's still only 29. The Cowboys are worse today than they were yesterday. Let's just hope they have a great draft or they are going backwards compared the NFC East and the Los Angeles Rams.

Cousins will be a bust eventually at that salary..... he will just be a bus driver for a few years just like Case was.

Then why did he always have a lot of drops, and why could he only run 3 routes, and why did he run such bad routes, and why did he quit on so many plays?

I think people would be surprised if they looked at the actual drops stats that the NFL tracks. The way it gets tossed around by various media outlets, you would think he dropped a lot more passes than he does.

http://scores.nbcsports.com/fb/leade...e=NFL&rank=232

Dez was also one of the recipients of the highest percentage of "uncatchable passes" last year and which no doubt also impacted his production.

I'm not saying he didn't have some drops, but he certainly can still catch the ball and score TD's and better than anyone else on the team.

I went to almost every home game and I watched every single game on TV, even the ones I went to. I think you are just wrong. Dak can't read defenses yet, so they have him getting the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible on every play, often 4 seconds or less. Unless its a broken play, he throws the ball before any play can develop down the field. That makes it pretty easy to zone defense anything downfield.

If you'll recall, after several games, there were defensive players on the other team commenting on how predictable the Cowboys passing game was. Even Cole Beasley commented on the frustration of running routes that were so easy to defend and wondering out loud why they wouldn't alter them so he and the other WR's could get open.

Good because he had a lot of drops....I was as big as Dez fan as there was, but he definitely declined. Or Romo made him.

Hopefully Dallas takes care of that issue in the draft

I think Dez was pretty good considering last 2 years not getting the ball to him consistently. Look at Dak's accuracy. Red Jesus just doesn't have it.

That may be it, i.e., the coaching. He and Linehan did a great job with the play calling with Dak in 2016. I wonder if they just got overconfident in his abilities in 2017 and with the play calling. That plus O-line turnover didn't do Dak any favors, that is for sure.

Going to miss Dez. Dude was a monster in his prime and wide outs routinely play into their early 30ís and are still productive. Say what you will but his expression on the sidelines shows he cares. The dude loved the play in Dallas. I think he will go to San Fran and put up 75/1000/9 next year.

If he cared that much, then he should have put that energy into improving his game. It's easy to yell and scream on the sidelines and act like you care...it's another animal to improve your game in the areas you're lacking.

Word is he was "gonna" go work with a route running enthusiast next month...but hasn't yet. REALLY? At 29 now he's going to address the worst part of his game? Why didn't he care enough before?
Why doesn't he care enough to finish routes?

Now he says he's super motivated to do whatever at whatever team he's going to for likely half the money....why didn't he care enough to be that motivated with the team he supposedly loved?

Because he's a fraud. He likes to yell and scream and call others out, and get on TV and look like he cares so much.....and cash checks. But he never cared enough to evolve as his skills declined

And you all fall for it...it's so incredibly contrived....and fake.

That's a really irrelevant question. We all know he was great when all he needed was his athleticism.

Did he care more then? Or just talk less?

Should he get 15 million next year to be the 20th best receiver because he was good 4 years ago?

Not really, you talk of him not evolving but he seemed to have ramped his game up after his rookie and sophomore year by adapting to the league. Never said they should have paid him, his release is what I expected and believe is the right move.

Let me ask you this, has Sammy Watkins proved a better NFL receiver? Was he worth the money he got paid this offseason? In reality, the 15 mil a year is high for what Dez brought to the table but not as far off as many think. Lots of teams have and would pay 10-12 mil/year for a guy that would put up numbers similar, although slightly better, than Dez.

It was the right move to release him but as I stated I think he will move on and have a good upcoming season. Wishing him the best...
