CrookedArrow .. Been there quiet a few times and like just getting away ..
The Hunting is what the person makes of it ... Some people like it and some don't ..
Not much different than shooting deer that wait for the feeder to go off ...

I shot a dall there about 10 yrs ago
It was a blast but I made it challenging. I took my bow and went as far and as high as I could. I was flat beat afterwards from the hiking.
Just know that you can make it as easy or as challenging as you want. I would go back with a group of buddies anytime

It was a yellow tag. My son shot it. According to his website yellow tags are 850 now. I don't remember spending quite that though. It has been a few years though.

Is that the place on Hwy 41 going towards RS? I see goats in a pen every time I drive to my slice of Texas. You hunt in the pen?

Thatís it, nothing but rocks and dirt. Some on here have said itís just a holding pen but tell that to the axis buck that was pinned up in the corner with a guy on shooting sticks 40 yards away. They were shooting straight towards the highway. Maybe the guides job was to watch for traffic?

It's been a while since I was there (15+ yrs), and I had a great time with friends and took a great ram. I did a lot of hiking up hillsides, that I found out wasn't necessary, but it added to hunt. No, it's not the most difficult hunt of a lifetime, but it doesn't need to be, and for those just getting into bow hunting it's fantastic. I highly recommend a trip like this to anyone new to bowhunting.

I'm pretty sure that buck would be thinking "Fuuuuuuuuu... let me out of this pen!!!"

I went to Temple's once, walked around the more open back part, didnt step in the pen, I found the whole thing pretty distasteful to be honest. Thompson seemed like a nice enough guy though I have heard some pretty sketchy stuff about him personally. I just couldnt get over everyone sitting around above the pen watching everything go down like some weird spectator sport thing.

I just watched some YouTube videos on that ranch. Seems like a pretty easy place to acquire some rams if one were so inclined.

I am not familiar with those animals. Are they domesticated?

Depends on how hard or ez you want to make it. There are some rams that u can lure in with a handful of cheetos and could club em with a claw hammer. Or, go on a hike, over the mountain and do a spot n stalk on the rams at the back of the property.. now u got yourself a hunt!

The place he has off of Hwy 41 is his Breeder area and he keeps Rams to stock on the hunting Ranch...
It's close to Rocksprings .. Take Hwy 55 towards Camp Wood .. Then Hwy 335 exit Hwy 2631 .. About 2.5 miles on the left and 2 miles back a dirt inproved road ..

I gotcha! Thank you for clearing up the confusion on my part. I only ask is because my parents bought a place directly behind the place on Hwy 41. I saw the signs and was curious what he had going on there.
