    Home Insulation?

Anyone use Rockwool instead of Fiberglass? I know a lot of people are using spray in foam but it's expensive and I'll be doing the work myself.

Long as the Rvalue is what you want...and you can stand the itching...go for it

Mineral wool in the walls, as it gives you better r-value per inch and is very mildew resistant.
Loose-fill fiberglass in the attic, because its cheaper and lighter and you can pile up a ton to get whatever r-value you want.

Doesnt rockwool settle in the walls leaving void at the top?

Haven't heard of this. I might need to research that.

Rockwool will not settle. If done right it fits tights in between the studs and after you get the wall closed up it will not move. Pricier option, but a little better R value and a lot better sound rating.

Not sure about putting it in exterior walls without a vapor barrier.

My mistake. I was thinking of blown in insulation.
