Brand new small base taper crimp die set for 223 Remington. I start decapping my cases. I do about 3 and this happens. I guess the expander ball which holds the pin in place wasn't completely tight and it got off center. Thankfully, I had a die set for 222 and was able to swap out the pins.
I also need to get a reamer for the primer pockets. My uniformer doesn't ream them out quite enough to get the primers to seat properly.

Yep, I break pins regularly. Especially the pancake head pins. I buy a pack every time I go to Basspro.

The one I bent was a headed pin. Would a nail work?

I use a lee universal decapping die since I like to clean brass before re-sizing. The collet keeps you from breaking pins.
