Check to see if the kill switch is pulled out. Most of them wont even crank if it is out, but some of the older ones will, but wont fire up. Push it in and fire it up.

Thats what i thought but it sounds like its turning over. If it was a safety problem i'd think it would make zero noise

Dont forget kill switch under the seat. When we pull ours on a trailer the seat bounces and causes the kill switch to come off the springs.

If it’s diesel then it’s either electrical or not getting fuel.
Like others said check fuses first and then fuel supply.
There is probably a small solenoid on the side of the fuel pump that has a plunger which shuts off the fuel supply when you turn the key off
If that solenoid doesn’t get power it won’t open the plunger to allow diesel to flow.

The fuel solenoid will click (energize) when you turn the key to ON. If you don't hear the click, you either have a power problem to the solenoid or a bad solenoid.

Check for algae. I have an older MF245 that I had to blow the fuel line out, because it wasn't even getting to the filter. Thanks DJM.

                      That happened to my 5420.

Also might check the it is in neutral, since you said it "jumped". Might have thee gears "locked-up" from the force. See if it'll roll, (push it or pull it a little).

Change the fuel filters. When turning over crack a line to make sure getting fuel.

Did you check the flux capacitor?

This would require using a wrench and we're not sure what kind of tools the wife has.

Mine did that and it had air in the fuel line. Pull the fuel line off of the filter and turn on the switch. If you hear a click you should get fuel out of the hose. If you don't get fuel, check for a cracked fuel line. That was the problem with mine.
