    Game Cam Set Up

    1. I wanted a game cam that I could leave in the field for months at a time and not worry about dead batteries. So I decided to run a solar panel and an external battery pack and load the camera with an 8gb card. Here are the items I needed. A Primos Truth Cam, Wildgame Innovations External Battery Pack, and an outdoor enclosure.

    2. I laid the Truth Cam on a copier and made a copy of the back

    3. Then I took the copy and put it on the enclosure and marked the placement of the four holes in the back of the camera.

    4. I used a square to make sure I had the marks even on the enclosure.

    12. Next I attached the camera to the 4x4s and mounted my solar panel to the top. I ran the solar panel into the battery pack by drilling a small hole in the front. After running the wires inside I plugged the hole with a piece of a wine cork and some silicone.

Really nice set-up. Good work. Will you be anchoring the buckets to the ground?

They weigh quite a bit and won't be where a cow could rub up against it. If I find that they are getting tipped over, I'm going to run a few pieces of rebar on 4 sides of the bucket.

Looks good. This might be a dumb question. I have never worked with cams, or solar panels before. How do you attach them the the battery pack?

You can either buy a solar panel that already comes with a piggy back connection (Boss Buck sells them but they are currently out of stock) or you can just add your own piggyback connection to the battery to allow you to plug in the panel.

I tried to blow up the picture so that I could make out the bolt size on the package but it got distorted. I still have the package at home. I'll look and post up what size bolt the camera took.
