As you can see, I built mine from scratch. If I built another one I'd start with that rig I posted the link to earlier. This thing has a thousand uses and goes with me on just about every road trip.
The small diameter burners are a waste of time. I hate using the one I have versus a bed of coals that heats the entire disk. I haven't spent the money to get a larger diameter burner yet but it is high on the list. This is what I will be trying on my build. http://www.agrisupply.com/carolina-c...acity/p/64482/

That's a better setup than the one I posted, and a lot cheaper with the same burner. I can't stress enough how much better that big burner cooks, and uses less fuel to do it.
Just as important as sheltering the flame, is heat distribution. Those small burners heat the center of the disc great, but you're only really cooking in that middle ~6" or so. The burner I posted is almost 11" across, it makes a 22" disc much more versatile.
Well worth the $, imo.

You're exactly right Dale. I can't tell you how many times I've been frustrated with the small diameter burner; it only cooks in the middle of the disc.
