Mars - the Red Planet

The Red Planet is as close to earth tonight as it’s been in 15 years. It is 35.8 millions miles away and is really shining bright tonight. Take a few minutes to go outside and check it out. Just look toward the southern sky and you’ll see it in all its glory.

You can also see Venus (look north northwest), Jupiter ( look west) and Saturn ( look south southwest ...this one isn’t nearly as bright as the others).

The planets glow due to fact that they are so much closer to earth than the stars.

Went out side and I was lucky enough to see Mars and Saturn, with the trees allowing.

Definitely distinguish the Red planet and both were really bright.

Had the kids with friends in the pool and were amazed at all the stars and planets they could see.........

I walked away and got to hear my daughter start telling them about the lease I take her to and the cool stuff she has seen out there. Was cool moment.
