The Red Planet is as close to earth tonight as it’s been in 15 years. It is 35.8 millions miles away and is really shining bright tonight. Take a few minutes to go outside and check it out. Just look toward the southern sky and you’ll see it in all its glory.
You can also see Venus (look north northwest), Jupiter ( look west) and Saturn ( look south southwest ...this one isn’t nearly as bright as the others).
The planets glow due to fact that they are so much closer to earth than the stars.
