I finally finished the sheath for my big ole Bowie. I got the idea for the design from a YouTube video. That's a Texas quarter I put in the middle of it. I meant to put stitching around the quarter but forgot, and once it was glued up it was too late. That snake skin was giving to me by a guy I work with named Sheldon.
I originally wanted to make a sheath I could wear on my back like Crocodile Dundee, but I couldn't make up my mind how I wanted to do it, so I ended up not putting any kind of loop or anything on it. I doubt I'll ever have occasion to wear it anywhere anyway. It's mostly just cool to have a big pretty Bowie knife that I can show people, and it's nice to have a sheath for it so I don't cut myself or poke holes in my car seat. And I can always make another sheath for it if I decide I want one to carry the knife with.
