    Best Route Though Austin

We are heading to SA Thursday for the rodeo shotgun tournament at the National Shooting Center. I haven’t been through Austin in about 7 years but last time I went I-35 was insane.

We will be headed through about 7pm, what is the best route to take. Coming from Longview via Waco.

Toll road 130, goes around all of AUSTIN, and puts you out east of San Antonio if you take it the whole way.

Thanks fellas. Just looked it up and shows to be less than $10.

Or 281 if you want to stay on the west side. Mid-day traffic isn’t too bad on 281.

I haven’t been through Austin since this opened up. Well worth every dime. I live on the north side of SA so I usually jump back on 35 in Buda.

Go down 79 to Tayor, eat at Louis Muellars BBQ, then stop by Scotty's and smoke a cigar with him and drink his whisky. Then on to Hutto and take 130 from there!

This. If you take 130 all the way down it puts you pretty far east of SA. Much better just to get back on 35 in Buda

Very true. I live in South Austin and the traffic stops right when you get to Buda. Get off the toll road in Buda and you should be in good shape.

Get on 130 in Georgetown. Get off on 45 at Buda. I drive it 15-20 times a year. I’ve tried every route and that’s the fastest

It’s all about what time you are trying to push thru Austin via IH35

Non rush hour peak times are tolerable

                            I would do 130 personally

130 to 45 buda exit. 35 isn't bad after buda
