    First Obsidian Knife

Made my first knife from obsidian that I got from someplace in Utah. The color is what they call tri-flo which is black, brown and clear opaque. You can see light thru it when held to a light or the sun. This stuff is much easier to work that the Texas flint I have been used to although I don't think it is nearly as strong. It is much much sharper and I only got 5 cuts making this one.
the cuts were ll from flying flakes.
This rock is just beautiful stuff and the pics don't do justice the the color. I blame the picture taker for that as he is the worlds worst photographer.

Thanks to all. I have only been knapping for a couple of years and in that time I have learned a lot. There is still much to learn and I feel it would take a lifetime to get it really right.
The pictures on my facebook show the colors much better.

Some fine work there! Love the look of the tri-flo obsidian! Had a few heads over the years like that! Gorgeous rock!
