My wife Tracy got a new bow and Zero sight in the last couple months. She worked hard getting comfortable with both before Saturday. The sight was really challenging but she was ready too go Saturday, afternoon that is, she likes too sleep in so usually only hunts afternoons. I have to say that has paid off well for her over the years.
She was in her stand Saturday afternoon for a long HOT sit. Deer aren’t moving real good for whatever reason. We text back and forth and had both seen one buck each when she text. It was getting about that time and I figured she was heading in, nope, “just shot good buck”. She was just about to pack up and a bachelor group of 4 came in, as they came they were progressively larger. Last deer shows, instantly decides he’s a shooter, ranges him and lets it go. Right in shoulder and he takes off with lighted nock sticking out. She was very confident of the shot. And very excited!!
We meet back at camp, wait an hour and head out with our well seasoned 9 yr old Lacy. Not a drop of blood because no exit. 50 lbs and 24” draw usually still punches thru but this deer was BIG and square in shoulder was tough!! Put the dog down, she did a loop around, 5 min and about 50 yds from stand and he is piled up.
Very proud of her for the hard work getting the new gear right, hunting when we should have been at the lake it was so dang hot, quickly recognizing a mature shooter, and executing a great shot.
He weighed 162 FD, and was 19 1/2” inside. Heaviest deer we have taken off the place in the 27 years we have been hunting it.
Great buck Tracy! Congratulations!
