You know how when you're watching a great football game (American FOOTBALL), where both teams are trading punches, dudes are bleeding, big hits every play, and there are 5 car wrecks in the trenches on every play, then it all comes down to a field goal....and out walks a 164lb kicker with a costume helmet on, mismatched shoes, and a spotless uniform. THIS GUY...is gonna decide the game!

The world cup is a world wide tournament of kickers....

So where are the Russian, and Brazilian lady fans....?

What a game today - hope there are some more good back/forth games to come

Still can't believe De Gea didn't stop the 2nd goal that came right to him

I don’t understand why they bring out a stretcher for a leg cramp.

Why did it take six people to carry Lebron off the court last year when he had leg cramps?

As a football player, AND a football kicker, AND a college soccer player, I’d argue that the physical demand of the soccer field is as tough or tougher than that of the football field, albeit it different ways.

As much as it sucks not having the US to cheer for, I’ll still watch every game. One of the perks of having summers off.

My five year old has become a huge Ronaldo fan, he loves the video where he dresses up as a bum, so we’re officially pulling for Portugal in this house.

I only got to see the Iceland game yesterday, and I always dig an underdog taking it to the big boys so that one was a fun one to watch.

Mexico is looking really good so far, so many of these have had late drama and I see this one being no different. And Mexico just missed a big chance

We own a burger and beer/bar joint in Amarillo. Yesterday there was a pub crawl and we were packed for hours, which is great!! Anyway, there were these two Hispanic guys in there doing shots at the bar. They asked my manager if we were open on Sundays, he told them no. They were wanting to come up and watch the game, so he told em he would come up just for them and give em $2 Dos Equis, they thought that was awesome, said there would only be about 10 people. So he gets there this morning to open for them and there are about 40 of em
He said they hung a big huge Mexican flag and were having a blast. We have maybe 12 TV’s and all of em are on the game.

If someone would’ve offered to bet me that Brazil, Germany, Spain, and Argentina would’ve finished their first group games without a win amongst them, I would’ve let them name the bet and gave them 10-1 on their money.

Mexico was an awesome game, I was going nuts as the mins ticked away and Germany just couldn't get it done, love an upset!!

ARG and Brazil were my big disappointments over the weekend. They better turn it on and in a hurry!

Settle in Dale. This is the real deal. 32 teams trying to be the best in the world. This thing lasts a month.

As much as you like your American Football, there's a reason you don't see fat professional soccer players. You play the full 90 minutes , only 3 substitutions a game. Once you come out, you can't go back in and its almost entirely played with your feet. Once every 4 years. This is the greatest sporting event on the planet. I played American football too. Defensive end. Soccer was more demanding on my fitness. Truth be known, wrestling was the hardest sport I've ever done, but after that, soccer has demanded more from me than football, basketball, baseball.

As for the flopping. I hate that crap. Bunch of pansies, but I do love the game.

If my kids pull that flopping crap they get an earful from me.

That Pepe from Portugal is the worst. He needs to be punched in the taint.

I thought he performed fine. The rest did poorly. With the talent they have on the team there is no excuse. Perez missed a lay up and the goalie was giving goals away like Halloween candy. Today's result had nothing to do with Messi. Perez scores his gift and the goalie doesn't give out the first goal, its a completely different game.
