59s to 288s take a right on 35 straight to Bay City.

This 'll work too IF you just come straight south from Tyler without goin' to Buffalo, but you need to be on the road now otherwise that outbound traffic on 288 can be a bear in the afternoon rush "hour" which actually starts about 3:15-3:45 and continues to about 6:00-6:30...
If you come down HWY 6 go to Hempstead but don't get on 290. Go from Hempstead to Bellville to Sealy to East Bernard to Wallis to Hungerford to Wharton to Bay City.
I don't know the road numbers but I have driven it so many times i could do it in my sleep. That's how I go from BC to CS.
This is the only way to go. Do not go through Houston for any reason. I live 15 minutes from Bay City and avoid Houston at all cost when going north.
If you decide on the 99 south route please note that it is a tollway and EZ Tag/TxTag only, there are no toll booths. You must have a toll tag to use it.
I would go 45 south to OSR, take OSR west to 39 south to North zulch, then hwy 21 to hwy 6 south. From there take 6 to Hempstead to Belleville, Wharton down to bay city.
