Gar Guy asked me to post pics of the deer he referenced in his story that the predators found before he did. Heck of a buck.

Love reading up on this thread!
Very happy you both got your deer.
And even more happy hes still in the woods doing what he loves with the one he loves,
His Son!
Great write up and great deer.
Congrats to both of you.
Keep making those memories brother.

Yeah, I had been sitting with him every hunt and he had passed several big deer. I was already on another stand when he decided to hunt alone that evening.. I guess he just decided it was time for him to kill one. Dang kid, just cant leave him alone for an evening lol.

Hey ,Steve Glad your dad is ok ! I hunt sometimes with some older gentlemen and I'm as nervous as a cat in a room of rocking chairs the whole time hoping nothing happens to them ! But man they love being out there to be still hunting and I'm always trying to get them on the bigger bucks. Never seams to work out though they usually don't see much but then again there could be an elephant out there and they might not spot him LOL !

I talked to GG for about an hour the other evening on my way to work. We didn't talk much about deer, but Fiddy did enter the conversation. As of about a week and a half ago he hadn't been sighted but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes soon.

OK GarGuy, I know you have been busy chasing RiverMonsters, but it is time to unload some more of the East Texas specialty wisdom.

Deer season is quickly approaching and those east Texas studs are putting their headgear back on. You need to go ahead and start feeding us our spoonful of sugar so we can get in the right mode.

While we wait for Garguy...I stopped by his place today after my dad and I did a little work on our lease. I've known Steve going on 8 years now and my dad has never had the pleasure of meeting him. We had a nice quick chat with Steve, his dad and mom. Steve broke out a few of some local deer he killed in the past. I should of gotten a pic of a few shoulder mounts he brought out.

Here's my dad with a few of Steve's deer. East Texas studs.

Good morning. I hunt Harrison County on 40 acres. I Do not have equipment to plant food plots but I do have 2 corn feeders running. Just running plain ol corn. Very heavy hunting pressure surrounding my 40 acres by deer leases. 1 feeder is in a pine thicket and I only have pics of the same small doe coming to the feeder. What can I use to attract some deer and hopefully they will make it through the gauntlet to get to me?

Thanks for any advice.

Welcome marshdrake... Yessir, if you are an East Texas hunter especially, this thread, if studied will flat out make you a better hunter if you will practice what it teaches. Good luck this year, and come back and post up some pics of that biggun when you get him!

He guys. Just dropped in to say hello and see if y'all killed anything. I been laying low with a badly broken wrist and arm. Got a few good deer hanging out but none of my true giants so far. Plenty targets if I get ready to shoot one though. Keep after them. Steve

Y'all might get a kick out of this old deer. He is the deer named long beam that came in with passer last year and Justin shot passer. He is 12 years old this year. Down hill a little more but still a cool old buck.
