TG not trying to be a word Smith but in the rules you posted blinds removed after each hunt not stands. GW said they look to see if it has not been used for at least a week because they really don't want to cause problems not to mention lugging your stuff out.

Is this drawing only or can anyone hunt with the proper permit?

I believe it says "Stands must be removed when not in actual use. Hunting blinds must be removed and transported after each hunt."

What dose the first sentence say?

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!

I may head to Whitney this Saturday for some dove, I'll apologize in advance to anyone in B4 down close to the lake along Raymond creek, heck I may run a deer by you.

Game Warden told me that they didn't have time to enforce Corp rules. As long as a person was state legal they were happy.
Guess it depends on the Game Warden.

Why would someone dump a dead hog at a parking spot? Geez...at least take it away where we don't have to smell it...

Same reason a few years ago someone left a dead cow at the Nolan river boat ramp.

Yep. That is what I have gathered from a few state game wardens as well.

I've seen people on here ask for help with a tracker dog. Do y'all have one that could help?

There is a thread with a list of them, at the top of the Around The Campfire forum. It is a "sticky" thread. And will always be there most of the year. Some trackers only want gas and dog food for tracking services. Others charge a fee.

It was actually a friend that shot at it, but no. He wasn't even sure if he actually hit it, and we couldn't find blood so I am really hoping he didn't. I think he misjudged the distance. Thanks for asking though.

Yea... I was in a rush, and new to the boat in life. I had a lot to do when I got to the ramp prepping boat, loading stand, corn, changing to hunt clothes, etc.. everything was in bed of truck but bow was in backseat. Just a total amature move. Was a beautiful boat ride in the sunrise tho.

In my stand this morning. Walked past a yote bedded down on the way in this morning. Then had 2 bobcats walk through corn about 20 minutes ago.

Just had a pig come in and take one bite of corn and leave. No shot and he only stayed for a few seconds.

Wouldn't be the first time a Whitney hunter did that. No need to ask how I know.

Had a doe and babies come in at 730. Tried to get a shot on momma but she saw me draw and headed for cover while the little ones ate. That's all the action for today.expected to see more. Gonna sit it out another hour or so and call it a day.

Scored 141. That's his first buck on public land. I told him it might be a few years before he gets another one like that. I know guys that have hunted there 20+ years and haven't killed anything that big.

You might be hearing a lot of shooting because the second dove season started yesterday. Ducks generally don't move in the early evening. But sometimes do right at sundown there.

He shot it just before dark. The deer haven't been moving until very late in the evenings. In my experience hunting the public land, movement is usually better in the mornings if you can get in without bumping them. It's much easier to track them also. Took us over 2 hours to go 200 yards in the dark

Looks like my buck chasing is over for Whitney this year. Kinda depressing, but it is what it is. Hopefully they will cooperate next year. I was drawn for Benbrook first 2 weeks of January so I'll be after a big one there, and holiday plans will keep me outta the woods till then. Good luck to everyone still in the hunt.

Sorry to hear you havenít been able to make the harvest you wanted. Sounds like you have put in your time this year. Give you respect for making all day sits and traveling to/from DFW on top of it. Wears me out sitting all day and I donít have the long drive. I will be back at it tomorrow after I finish processing the buck I took last week. Narrows my focus now on the Hill side, as my buck was in Bosque. More of a challenge now as most of my spots were on the Bosque side.

Congrats on the buck. Got any pics? I understand if you don't want to post them, I was just wondering if it might be one I've been getting pictures of. I hunt some private land near public on the Bosque side and a few bucks have disappeared recently.

Thanks, grateful for my harvest! We aged him at 5-6 years old with an 18Ē spread. Wasnít a public land buck though, took it with my gun when the opportunity presented itself as I had not taken anything yet on the Corp land. My goal was to tag out this year and that is not looking great at this point in time. Had opportunities I didnít take early on being picky and now I am regretting that. Also had a couple missed opportunities due to other hunters making noise or coming near me at inopportune times.

This one was also special to me. I didnít grow up in a hunting family, really just got started deer hunting for the first time last year, this was my first deer. I have had some good friends supporting me while I learn the ropes. When I sit back and think about all I have learned, it is really quite amazing. It is also amazing to think about all the other lessons to come. Canít explain how ready I am to harvest my first public land deer with my bow.

That's a great first buck. And nothing wrong with being picky. It's better than shooting something you regret later. It took me 3 years to get a buck out there so keep at it and it will pay off eventually. Good luck tomorrow
