Default Tracking Dog Needed -Big Lake?

My son shot his first deer this morning - a doe with his crossbow. Think it was a liver shot. Tracked blood after a 30 minute wait and found a pool but then completely stops. Backing out now.

Good idea on backing out and not trampling all over the trail. If more people would back out and just call the dog they would have a much easier time. Good luck and wish you were closer!

Only about 300 yards directly east. The funny thing is, it was a good shot (maybe an inch or 2 back). Just too many variables at play but it was great to have some closure and for him to gain the confidence.

I could not be prouder!

Thanks everyone for the kids nd words and guidance.
