I've put either eliminators or spintech spin plates on all my feeders to keep the racoons from getting to the corn in the feeder.

Yea I don't really want to do that.. They are really very cool critters but have very mischievous tendencies.... I swear they smile at me from time to time..

I think Gunnyart has, like, hundreds of Slinkys you can put on the feeder legs to discourage the little bandits.

This. Eliminator plates have worked wonders for us. I don't worry about coons getting to our corn anymore.

They are a pain in the ***. I look at it this way...I put a food source like that in their living room I have to expect them for dinner. I personally won't kill them for it. I will do everything I can to deter them short of death. Just my choice.
