Default Slow morning in Brady

Warm and foggy. Just one little buck and two coons.

Sitting in a stand that normally is covered in deer.

Same in Junction. Normally see 15-20 deer at this spot but totally skunked this morning. I knew it was going to be slow because there had been very little activity on the Covert cams. I only went out this morning because my target back was here yesterday.
I guess between acorns and all this new growth they just aren’t hungry at all.

Slow for us in Menard county also. Had some young bucks at the feeder this morning but no mature bucks or does at all. The wife got skunked at her stand this afternoon but I get one more shot this weekend in the morning. All this green and the acorns falling like rain!

Back at it this AM. 4 doe but they walk past the feeder. I guess with all the groceries around they just aren't interested in the corn.

I had one doe in at 830 so far. She didnt hang around long. Shane had a big, mature buck in early he stuck around at legal shooting light for 1 min and once the corn feeder threw, he took off. We aren't sure exactly how many points he has because we haven't had any good pics since he lost his velvet but its somewhere in the vicinity of 12-13...

I live in Southeast LA, but I hunt every year at The Ford Ranch in Melvin. The number of deer in that area is stupid crazy. I couldnít imagine it ever being slow. Ha

Slow in goldthwaite not a deer seen. All cameras show night pics and corn is pilling up on the ground. Acorns everywhere and grass is green no need to move around

Yeah we are in Trickham, just West of Brownwood. We got an enormous amount of rain this past couple of weekends as most of us did. I told my hunting buddies this is gonna change everything opening morning. Before the rains deer, auodad and hogs were thick as thieves and numerous pics. After rains, acorns and all the new growth pics are dying down. It's a waiting game now.

Well this thread is discouraging. Lol. I'm headed to my lease in Brady Friday. I have a cell camera sending me pics and they have almost stopped these last 3 or 4 days. Grass has grown prolly 3 feet since I was down there at the beginning of September.

I hunt just north of Brady (7 miles) off of 283. Our place has received a ton of rain in the last month. It is very green and there is more grass and flowers than in the spring time. The acorns are falling like crazy. I doubt we will see any deer at the feeders for quite some time. I'll be hunting the oak groves for sure. Only deer I saw at the feeders this weekend were young spikes, doe and fawns.

Ya I might try and find a trail to post up on instead of hunting the feeders.

Same issues for us between Mason and Brady. I was able to kill a doe, but most hunters saw nothing.

Lots of acorns and grass to eat right now.

Our lease is on 2028 10 miles west outside of town. We have good numbers of of axias and turkey but no pigs. We are high fenced but I believe it is just a matter of time.

Pm me your number again I will send you what I have. Nothing great but some decent ones.
No we leased that place 3 years ago. It is so wheat field dependent is the reason I got off this year. Unfortunatley the neighbor to the south already planted which means they have no reason to cross to come to their wheat now. YES tons of axis on the place when we where the only wheat field lol.

No I didn't know one came up by yall. I told Scott I wanted anything that came up in that area just because I like it and its close to my cousins place. If its still open let me know

However, after several issues with Scott this year not sure if I would or not.

Sounds like the weekend of the 20th would be a good time for a HH at the locker for the folks in Brady. Hopefully we get a cool front to push through around then. The gnats and mosquitoes make it that much tougher when the deer aren’t moving.
