I will never forget! Finding out what led up to that attack, that day and the weeks after, stories of the families, the proud men and women of our fighting forces and intelligence determined to go after them for years and years without stopping. I'm proud to be an American because we always come together when shtf and thousands of other reasons too

I can never forget that day. We lost 17 Electricians that day. 3 of whom I knew.
Worked on the Museum and Memorial for 4.5 years. Most meaningful job in my life.
This is how I memorialized them. EVERY fixture I put up, I wrote the names of our lost on the fixture support in the ceiling.

So hard to believe its been 17yrs already. The effects of that day are as tragic as any modern day event in this nation. But the thing is, we all actually drew closer in the aftermath as it banded us together in patriotic support. Pride in our homeland was at an all time high as we all mourned together. Racism, religious and political views were actually taking a back seat as this great nation was on the mend.

Heck, things were going so well, we even elected the first black POTUS. Obama had an incredible opportunity and platform to do something so great. He was in a position to unify this country even more and distance the us versus them mentality. Instead, he chose to divide us even more. There is so much division now that it seems nobody can agree on anything anymore.

Now, instead of standing together like we were, we find new ways to be offended by everything and cant even agree on the common good. What a shame.

Amen and God Bless America.

I'm reading The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 by Lawrence Wright right now. It is extremely well written and researched as well as interesting and frustrating. For anyone interested in the background and how the plot developed I highly recommend it.

God bless the 2,977 people who died and I pray comfort their families.

I lost 2 guys from high school, say a prayer for them.

My wife and coworkers put this up at work in the courthouse.

a girl I went to HS with was 3 months pregnant (son) and lost her husband on 9/11.
RIP Micheal Pescherine was a bond trader at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and worked on the 89th floor of WTC2 South Tower.
I pray for their families often, especially for a young man who never got the chance to meet his father.

On my first visit to Ground Zero since driving into lower Manhattan the evening of Saturday, Sept. 22 seeing the devastation- after burying my father who died of cancer in NJ on Sept.16 I sat on the benches between the 2 foundation memorials. The tree lines marked the edge of the buildings. In the quiet of a lovely June evening I realized I was sitting where people who jumped had died hitting the ground. No words can describe the emotion.

I still vividly remember stepping out of my truck at work and the secretary telling me that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers in NY. When I got home from work that day I sat in front of the TV till I went to bed and did the same thing after work the next day. Couldn't believe it happened. Remember how angry I felt and how I got goose bumps when W told the world that there isn't any place to hide that we will hunt those down responsible for the attacks. And that those harboring these people would be treated the same! USA!!!!

I was at work in the kitchen watching the news on the TV and saw the second plane hit live... I'll never forget the knot in my gut. Though different, it is a big a benchmark in this country as December 7/Pearl Harbor... Life-changing/country-altering moments in our time. My office was near the IAH here in Houston, and it was an eerie sound of silence when W grounded all aircraft... no planes coming/going, nothing but silence... gives me chills thinking about it now. Can't believe it has been 17 years!!

That was my first day as a professional fireman. Checking out a brush truck when the LT. Called me into the building. I would not go thinking they were going to do a little hazing on the new guy. He finally insisted I come in and mentioned a plane crash into the building. first thing I saw was the clear blue sky. I mentioned terrorist attack and moments later the second plane hit.

The news doesn’t cover much of this in video and commentary but they cover the snot out of any gun violence or police infraction. They’re all bags of dookey.
