My dad and I have been hunting WMA, Public Lands and National Forest for decades. Personally I'd rather hunt them than a lease.
If you want to go farther south the Angelins National Forest around Sam Raburn Reservoir & the Sabine National Forest on the SE end of Toledo Bend Reservoir is free and if you locate them you can score some good kills, deer/hogs/predators.
