    Duck on a stick

    It's what's for dinner...tonight

Me and my boy shot a few gadwall last week and figured I would try them out on the grill. I haven't had to many ducks that I can say I liked but after reading several duck recipes on here, I thought I would give it another try.

And like all good threads, this one comes with pics

I used 3 different marinades and added onions and potato's to the experiment.

Cooked them for ~5min on each side.

And after it was said and done, I must say that was one of the best wild game dinners I've ever had. Ducks just moved up the most wanted list when out on the water.

Good idea, and looks like good cooking! Best part of fall in my opinion, piles of ducks.

The Zesty Herb was my favorite marinade. The Peppercorn & Italian has a pretty good spicy kick and the Mesquite was ok.

Just curious, were the potatoes well done?

Duck, as long as it ain't fish eating duck, makes pretty good chicken fried steak. Breast halves need to be tenderized into a cutlet, breaded and fried with gravy. Pintails are the #1 choice.

And the next day leftover duck on a stick ain't too bad either.

The potatoes were not so soft that they fell off the skewer but they weren't crunchy either. I tried to cut them thin since I knew they wouldn't be over the fire very long.

Looks good! I bacon wrap them most of the time.

Just grilled some duck today. Medium rare on a HOT fire is the way to go. My marinade consists of:
                        Soy sauce
                        Balsamic vinegar
                        Chopped rosemary
                        Chopped garlic
                        Chili flakes
I will be trying that zesty herb marinade next go round.

                          Duck Kabobs are the best!
