    Word of Warning

When the crank of your winch-up feeder slips out of your hand and the latch doesn't catch, DO NOT grab the spinning handle driven by 300 lbs of corn and barrel!!! It hurts. I was fortunate to come away with only bruises.

And, make sure you aren't under the barrel--stand well clear.

That is why I would only use a Brake Winch or Worm gear winch for lifting & holding weight. I'm glad it didn't end up worse

A man I grew up hunting with had a winch up feeder fall and part of it went through his boot and all the way through his foot.

Yep. Learned that about 50 years ago rolling up curtains on chicken houses. It hurts just as bad when it slaps the top of your hand.

Ouch! A 225lb pig will hurt you too. Stand and fill is the only way to go.

My buddy had an eye bolt that the pulley bolts to break which caused the 300 pounds of corn to come crashing down on his leg. He had to guide the med a vac helicopter in to his location (Huffman) by cell phone. Now he walks funny and don’t use crank ups at all.

Been there, and that is no fun. Happened to me when it was super cold and I was wearing gloves. I thought for sure a finger would have been broken.

Only stand and fill for me. I’m too old to get hurt
