Better pictures of buck with neck wound.

Had some corn left over from filling feeders today, so I scatter some around in front of our Spartan camera where the wounded buck comes on/off our property. Hand corn rules as that dude ate corn for 43 minutes straight.

I got some much better pictures of what I believe is an exit wound:

These next pics show what I believe would be the entrance side. This first picture the spot seems out of alignment with the exit wound:

This picture however shows about the posture and angle that the deer could have been at to make the entrance and exit wound line up:

Think you're spot on. On another note, I don't think he's a very old deer, but has lots of potential. 4.5 tops, but possibly 3

          I think so too.

Agreed, looks like a gunshot wound. Sad. Do you think he is 13"? I see the same almost every year.

Yeah I think he'd make 13. He's got good mass. I like him. He's a nice looking young deer in person. If he'll stay in that creek bottom and on our place for the next two weeks, he'll be alright. My protein feeder was just about empty. I added some feed to it over the weekend. He just needs to hang with me and let me feed him another year. :-)

I would think he's going to end up with a scar or something that ought to make him easy to recognize.

                      If that's a gunshot wound it didn't penetrate 2"
More likely from a fight or even a broken tree limb

Any pics of him cleaning it? Buck doesn't look all that young with the roman nose and calluses starting to form on knees.

Not being paralyzed is what's weird.

It went in one side and out the other. The gnarly looking side is the exit wound.

No pics of him cleaning it. I watched him Friday evening for about 15 mins and then again Saturday morning. He acts like nothing happened.

What age would you put him at?
