I had my best day last year fishing a day just like today. We were in a tournament and I've never seen a bite like that. 4 man limits of trout and reds, literally as fast as you could catch them.

Low pressure is good for the bite. Lightning is not unfortunately.

We made it back from Chandeleur. Amazing place. Tough fishing. Salt is non existent. We caught some decent trout in the surf that was mainly glass most of the time. Sharks were everywhere on the surf side. We waded large areas of grass and sighted huge reds but couldn't get them to bite anything. We went out on the Compass Rose and it was nice in every way. We wound up with 47 trout and only two reds. The red numbers really surprised me. I thought the conditions would be good for them.

Their website is a little dated but their operation is very nice. I really can't think of a single bad thing about them.

Anybody interested in a Chandeleur trip later this year? I checked availability on the boat Z7X went on and they have some openings in August-September. Would love to make this trip happen.
