Need good thoughts on finding a deer for 6 year old

My son shot a good 7 point at 7:45 this morning. Shot was low right on shoulder. Saw deer running off on 3 legs and 1/2 a bolt in him.

I have a dog on the way. Will keep you updated

If the shot was where that red dot is that's a dead deer

If right there and you got 8-10 inches of penetratation then deer is dead! Good luck on the track and I will send up a little prayer that this one works out for the best. If it helps, my stepson hit his first buck exactly where you have that dot. Bolt didn't go through and he thought he blew it. I had a different view from my window and watched the buck fall at 80-100 yards. It was a heart shot!

That's what I'm hoping for. I didn't look real hard bud couldn't find any blood. I saw him running with at least 1/2 the bolt sticking out. He was shot with rage extreme so that's what I'm worried about. I know he hit solid bone.

Should be dead with proper penetration. I am not familiar with how long Xbow bolts are though. Good luck!
