Default Traditional First Shot Challenge Week 5

This weeks challenge will be almost the same as last week. (One minor difference)

The challenge will again be a 5 Shot challenge.

Shots to be taken from 15 yards for the adults. 7 yards for the kiddos.

I would prefer, that you to take each shot on different days, but if you get up against time, then shoot them all at once, or finish up all at once with your remaining shots.

Draw a 2" DOT on a standard piece of paper, or whatever you have handy.

Any shot landing outside the dot:
Scores the measured distance from the edge of the arrow shaft to the nearest edge of the dot.

Any shot landing on / touching / cutting the edge of the dot:
Scores a 0 "zero".

Any shot landing cleanly inside the dot (does not touch the edge):
Scores a - 1/2" (negative one half inch)

Lowest total of the 5 shots wins the call for next week.

Obviously, the minor difference is a dot instead of an empty circle.
An experiment to see if a solid dot is easier to shoot.
I'm betting it will be.

Shoot straight, and have fun.

Yeah I couldn't see the circle edges when shooting. However I just focused on the center of the paper and let them fly.

I bet you are correct though.

By the way - The picture is an exact 8.5 X 11, and is printable if you are able to print to scale.

Yeah, I think most will enjoy this one much better, and it really is a good exercise.

I'm supposed to receive my new riser tomorrow.
I won't be shooting this until I have it all set up, and tuned in.
Wish me luck.

Are we going to go with the guy that shoots the worst has to pick the next one?

Yeah and I would guess it gets boring picking often if you're a really good shot (i.e. Rick). I would also be that we have more folks competing if the guy that comes in last has to pick instead of the winner. There are a lot of guys here that are great shots. I'd bet they don't play because they don't want to have to pick a new challenge.

Either way I'm for sure a contender for picking the next one.

Richard.

Like the solid spot.

On winner picking the challenge: should be winners choice, at least. If he/she wishes to designate runner-up or some other contestant that week, it's up to them.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Ok I changed my mind. The guy that wins should pick the next weeks shot.

LOL!! I totally plucked that one.

Richard.

Edit: That one went low and right, computer rotated the picture for me.

Wasn't there a TV show called "The Biggest Loser", or something like that?

Winner still gets to make the call for next week.

Loser has to come take me to the ABA 3D range, and shoot with me for a day.
It's been a long time since I shot any 3D, and I need to get out.

I may have to pile mine up near the end of the week. Work is ramping back up so I'm in the office from 0700 to 19-2000hrs every night.

Been shooting a lighter draw bow that I really don't have any arrows spined light enough. Yesterday I could barely draw it because I'm sore from a fall over the weekend. So today when I drew it in the house it wasn't bad and I decided give a pull on the Widow. Hurt the first couple but after a few warm up draws and focusing on using the back it felt pretty good so I took it out for today's shot. It felt great on release.

I went ahead, and shot two today to get caught up.

Day 1 / Shots 1 & 2 = -1"
I know, they are barely in, but they are.
This rig shoots better than any I have ever owned.

Then I took the dot off, and shot a 30, 20, 10 yard walk up at the green soda straw. The 10 yard shot busted the nock on the 20 yarder, and deflected.

I'm darn HAPPY with this bow. D

Great shooting, Rick!

By contrast, here's my 4-1/4" Day 3 shot; three-day total: 5-21/32"

Excuse: didn't turn bill of cap far enough to be out of the way, so release was from a bit to the right. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

How do you know you're fixin to hear a TALL tale? When the tale teller says "Y'all ain't gonna believe this stuff. "
Well guess what?...Y'all ain't gonna believe this but it's true.
Day 3
EXACT SAME HOLE AS DAY 2!
1.56

Even after pulling the arrow I couldn't see much of a difference in the hole between the two shots.

While that's kinda cool, I'd have rather hit the dot.

Great shot DRT.

Thanks, But naa.

I did a lot of shooting last night tweaking this bow, and it paid off today.

Now I'll likely go back to my normal ways of only shooting 1 or 2 arrows a week (or less), and the wheels will fall off.

The wind is really bad today ( preface for my excuse ).

The gusts were blowing me hard left on every draw, but I decided to push through them.

Shot left, but my height was good.

My third shot left a little to be desired at 3/16ths of an inch. I guess I can't complain with as little as I've shot my bows the last two months.

Wind howling out of the south yesterday.
Wind howling out of the north today.
Side Note: Don't try to compensate for the wind. It'll bite you in the butt almost every time.

One shot to go, and it'll probably be during an 80mph down burst.

I'm an alien (not the illegal kind).

I've had a little cheap (R&R Reserve) pain medication tonight, so I'm feeling kind of jovial.

Think I'll take may last shot forme 30 yards just for the S&G's of it.
