It was my first yr but it has been ran by the same group for the last 10. They've always done 8pts or less as culls and 9pts or more trophy and at least 4.5yrs ald for both. I think they are going to change that next season hopefully it will help. I was just concerned when the biggest buck taken this yr was a 128in 10pt off 12k acres.

I think shooting them at 4.5 you will be doing good to shoot 130" deer. Really need to get trophies to 5.5 or better 6.5 in the area. We went to 6.5 and the top end has really improved. Coming out of the drought it has been slim the past couple of years finding a 6.5 to shoot but that's part of the process you have to be disciplined if that's the type of deer you want to shoot. I haven't shot a trophy in 3 years but the last one I did shoot was over 170".

The arrow is on Toenail Trail at the TG Schleicher County line. If the map is accurate we should be Ok.

Deer are taking to the cottonseed pretty good. They arenít killing it but there seems to be a deer or three on it most of time before, during and after the small 3sec corn sprays and at night. They all seem to be in great shape physically bodywise for a dry cold winter so Mother Nature must be helping them some where.

Three weeks in...

The ridge on the bottom right of this picture, had a lease 10 plus years ago...was an amazing place and miss it dearly!

Hope everyone's place is safe.

My cottonseed is getting hit pretty hard numbers wise. I’m a good ways down from the 1200 lbs of snow mountain earlier. I have deer on it constantly but they aren't destroying the pile. Mother Nature has evidently been providing pretty good as good as shape as their bodies seem to be in for post rut and late winter.

“Is this where the line ends?”

Let's just say been looking forward to it for a long time, hated the circumstances but hoping to fill some big shoes with some great people!

Moving to Irion to join Brandon and Jeremy! Really looking forward to the upcoming season. I've been lucky to hunt with some great guys the last 4-5 seasons but this lease opportunity is the type of place I've been looking for. Great property, great setup and two good friends.

Haha , whatever you did, it worked! I had 2 deer drop before season was over, one of which being an 8 we shot thg dropped them when he was crashing. That's the earliest I ever remembering seeing one drop at our place.
