Just picked up some 16 year old Lagavulin Scotch... I was not to impressed. Maybe I just do not know how to drink Scotch yet? it was very smokey. Also I fixed with two cubes of ice. But to be fair I tried it three ways and none were appealing to me, add a little water on the rocks, and straight.

Post #699 and #702 was bullet rye. Same thing. Not a “spice” thing or a heat thing (low heat) just a bunch of off taste that really....suck. Taste like a pickle

For grins I googled “ high west double rye taste like dill pickle” there are lots of the exact same review with it and bullet (at least I know I haven’t gone crazy ... yet)

Straightbourbon.com was one

Iíve got to agree I donít get anything like that from mine. Now rye does have a distinct flavor and you can pick it up quick from the younger of the blend but never have I though of dill pickle

I just returned a bottle of Yippee Ki-Yay Rye to a local store.
I bought it last Friday,
ok-ish upon opening but could not stand it on try 2 or 3. Took it back to the store, left it with a message for my sales guy to try. He text "tastes sour and kind of reminds me of mildew. In other words it's gross."
They are going to give me a bottle of something else to replace it.

I bought the new batch last week, but haven’t opened it. Last year’s is good. It’s one of my go-to’s!

A couple of gems set aside for me by my local mom and pop liquor store. Ben Milam and OW 107. Never had either.

I’ve picked up a bottle of Blantons each of the last two days for normal pricing which is rare around here. I’ve got a spare if anybody has something to trade I might not have been able to get a hold of. Weller 12 I absolutely cant get (stores haven’t seen a bottle here in over a year). Can add some cash for some more expensive stuff also

Don’t have to get rid of it but curious to see what someone else might give up for one if they can’t find it

Winner Winner! Friend got it in at duty free store coming back from Grand Caymans.
Really nice, nobody like it with ice. Neat

Surprised by out #2. Really nice. Blind tasted, no one guessed it was a Rye. One taster guessed Michterís

Man, I was down there last month and never got a chance to hit a liquor store down there... maybe next time.

I passed up a $130 bottle of Antique 107 today... I did happen on a 2nd bottle of Elmer T Lee though. If anyone around Houston wants to trade for it just PM me.
